Veronica DeLuca- Mixed Media Kids Owner & Instructor
Hello and Welcome to Mixed Media Kids! My name is Veronica and I’d love to share a little about my background and why I started MMK.
I have loved art my entire life. I grew up with a mom who is an artist, who has always created beautiful and unique things. Upon finishing high school, I began to explore careers in creative fields and landed upon graphic design.
I went to art school and got my bachelor’s degree in Multimedia, Graphic & Web Design. During college, I worked designing products for brands like Barbie, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles, and Tech Deck Skateboards. Once I graduated, I was hired as a designer for a medical company, and then became a partner at a creative agency in San Diego. After 4 years as a partner, I moved to Orange County and took a job as Senior Designer at Entrepreneur Magazine, where I worked for 7 years, until I had my son Jett. I loved my job, but after becoming a mom, I wanted more time with my new baby, so I left Entrepreneur and became my own boss… Mom by day, designer by night.
I currently run a small business offering graphic design, web design and screen printing services, as well as my own brand, in addition to Mixed Media Kids.
I am also a homeschool mom, and all of the creating I have been blessed to do over the years has inspired me to teach. I am having a great time passing on the knowledge and experience I have gained over the years as a designer and a small business owner.
At the end of the day, I believe we are creative beings and it’s an honor for me to be able to pass on some of the knowledge and skills I’ve learned along the way so that others can explore being creative too. It’s my hope that the kids we work with are able to experience the deep joy and satisfaction that comes from taking an idea and bringing it to life. Every time I see big, proud smiles after students finish a project or craft something with their own hands, I believe that they are!
